Sena Halilovic
(Club Director)

Coaching and Playing Experience
  • Sena has over 11 years of soccer experience in Europe by playing for: OFK Tuzla, FK Drina and FK Sloboda in Yugoslavia.
  • 1995/1996 played for Tuzlansko-Podrinjski Bosnian Regional Team
  • 1997/1998 played in Bosnian national finals under U19 Division.
  • After a knee injury in 1999, Sena retired playing professionally and entered a new adventure of coaching.
  • Sena coached youth teams in Europe.
  • In 2000 played for teams in the Chicago National and Metropolitan League.
  • Played for: SC Bosna, BH Lilies and Italian Maroons.

Alen Smjecanin

Coaching and Playing Experience
  • Alen has over 9 years of soccer experience in Europe by playing for: NK Zeljeznicar and FK Bosna in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Competed in major youth tournaments throughout Europe, in countries such as: Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Montenegro, Holland, Denmark and Austria.
  • At the age of 12 while playing for NK Zeljeznicar, his team was ranked 1st in Europe for his age group.
  • After playing two years for a Junior college, Alen was supposed to play for a Division I school (UIC), but a knee injury prevented him from it.    
  • After his knee injury in 2008, Alen continued playing in the Chicago National League.
  • Played for NK Prijedor, FK Kozarac, and Hellenic United.
  • Other playing experience: Lillies Grand Rapids, Sherman Boys, Maroons, Celaya, and NK Teslic.
  • Started his coaching career in 2007 with the Chicago Inter Soccer and Southwest Soccer Club, formerly Homer Hawks.

  • Awards and recognitions at OCC: Undefeated in conference 2008-2009, All-Conference 1st team, All-Region 1st team
  • Co-Conference player of the year 2008-2009, All-American nominee.

  • U21 Bosnian Select National Team member (2004)
  • Played collegiate soccer at Oakton and UIC (2004-2007)
  • Played in Metro and National Soccer League for the following teams: Chicago Wind, SC Bosna, Royal FC Chicago, NK Prijedor, FK Kozarac, Chicago River FC, Hellenic United, Lillies Grand Rapids, and NK Teslic.
  • Started coaching in 2006 with soccer camps at UIC.
  • Joined Chicago Inter Soccer in the winter 2012.

Dejan Simikic

Coaching and Playing Experience
  • At age eight Dejan began his youth club playing career at FC Neuhadern (formerly VFB Laim) & SV 1880 München out of Munich, Germany
  • Moved to the US in 1999 where he began his High School playing career at Hershey HS out of Hershey, PA
  • Followed by another move in 2000 to Chicago, Dejan continued his playing experience at Amundsen HS out of Chicago, IL
  • Led the Vikings to two Chicago Championship titles in 2001 & 2002
  • Awarded All Regional & All Sectional player by the IHSSCA - 2002
  • Competed at the IHSSA Elite Eight State Tournament at North Central College out of Naperivlle, IL - 2002
  • Chicago Fire Juniors U19 & U23,  2002-2004
  • Kendall College NAIA Division - 2003
  • Experience playing at the NSL Major Division since 2003
  • Began his coaching career in 2010 with Chicago Inter SC & Southwest SC formerly known as Homer Hawks SC

Coaching and Playing Experience
  • Played for Sockers FC Chicago up until 2003, where he won numerous league and state championships.
  • Moved back to Europe in 2003, where he played for NK Zeljeznicar Sarajevo and led them to consecutive national titles of Bosnia from 2004-08.
  • Part of top 3 showings at the most recognized youth soccer tournaments in Europe: Dana Cup, Norway Cup, Mediterranean Cup, Austria Cup, Orebro Cup, etc. Helped club to recognition as one of top sides in Southeast Europe.
  • Part of 30-member player pool for the U-18 Bosnian National Team alongside various players currently playing in top European leagues.
  • Arrived back to Chicago for his final year of high school when he led Niles West as a senior to All-Central honors and became one of the top assisters in school history. 
  • Played NCAA Division I Soccer for the University of Illinois at Chicago (2009-13) where he finished his collegiate soccer career.
  • Currently plays for AAC Eagles Chicago of the Metropolitan Soccer League.
  • Started coaching in 2009 with UIC Soccer Camps and joined Chicago Inter Soccer in 2016.

  • Head Coach of Illinois State Men's Open Team. (2000-2002)
  • Coached team representing the Illinois State in inter-state matches.
  • Coach the team to the finals in both 2000 and 2002.
  • Coached all level teams in EUROPE and USA from 1990-2000.
  • Played forward and midfield in professional open teams, Croatia. (1982-1986)
  • Member of professional youth soccer teams in juniors, cadet, and open divisions ZG.
  • Premier youth Soccer League member from age 7-14 Croatia.
